Welcome to Northwest Garlic. We have expanded the 2008 crop. with more Garlic Varieties to chose from. We have limited quantities available on some of the Garlic. So order early.

Fresh garlic is a wonderful flavoring to add to your recipes. It ranges from mild to hot in flavor, providing the right spice to your foods. Use it sliced, minced, or even roasted whole. Whatever dish you are preparing, you can rest assured that you have chosen the right garlic for your family. Our garlic is "naturally grown" i.e. no herbicides or insecticides, using OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute)  approved fertilizers only.

ARTICHOKE 
Subspecies sativum  (Softneck, braidable)
Characteristic are vigorous and large bulged, outer cloves are fat and round, but inner cloves are irregular and tall in shape. Coarse and thick wrappers are light purple blotches. Skins adhere tightly and have 12 to 20 cloves.

  • PORCELAINS--Subspecies ophioscorodon (hardneck) Porcelains have outstanding flavor and texture characterized by large satiny white bulbs with tall pointed elegant cloves. They are easy peeling and store until late spring.The bulbs average 4 to 6 very large uniformly sized cloves and all are large enough for planting with an average of about 40 cloves per pound.

  • Standard Purple stripe   Sub species ophioscorodon (hardneck) Named because of the bright purple streaks and blotches. 8-12 tall cressent shaped cloves per bulb. Long storage with 60 seeds to the pound. The leaves grow at a wider angle to the stem than rocamboles with  a 270 degree curl in the flower stalk.

  • ROCAMBOLES --- Subspecies ophioscorodon ( hardneck)
    Known for 1-3 tight coiled stalks that eventually straighten as they mature. Cloves are blunt at the tip and number 7-11 medium sized with colors from tan to dark brown.

  • Silver skin     Sub Species sativum (softneck, braidable) Highest yielding variety that grows well in Wide range of soil and climate conditions. Leaves are often narrow  and pale green despite healthy plans. Wrappers are fine and smooth which makes them very popular with braiders. Three cloves layers with 12-20 cloves.

    A Purple Stripe subvariaty (Hardneck) Bulb wrappers are mottled. Cloves are easily counted while still wrapped. Long storage with 50 cloves per pound.
